  • Picture framing with composite decking

I'm using Timbertech Earthwood Evolutions Legacy for the first time (capped composite). I'm running a double picture frame around the entire deck with 2x90* angles and 4x45* angles.

I'm just outside of Boston, so with this 90+ weather, should I butt the boards tightly? or maybe leave the width of aluminum flashing between boards? And then face screw one or both sides of the miter?

Also, where the main decking is perpendicular to the picture frame, should I use a hidden fastener clip between them?

    Thanks for your input!

This is just my opinion ... The manufacture might recommend different. Butt them tight in the heat, they shrink when cold. If you plan your framing right you will have a joist slightly outside of the border where you can clip down the decking.
